nSight's New Edit Expresssm Eliminates Typos, Grammatical Errors, Factual Inconsistencies
BURLINGTON, MA.January 23, 2002nSight, Inc., today launched Edit Expresssm, a new service designed to eradicate typos, grammatical errors, and factual inconsistencies from print and interactive documents.
Through Edit Expresssm, nSight provides everything from proofreading to significant rewriting quickly and affordably, using time-honored editorial standards, experienced editors, and technology.
"If this is the Information Age, why is so much information delivered with typos and grammatical errors?" asked Nan Fritz, president and founder of nSight. "Like bugs in software programs, language errors make written documents less effective. When they are not corrected, they can have a detrimental impact on the image of your company or organization and on the sales of your products. Sloppy writing can even subject your company to potential liability."
In some cases, product manuals that are not written clearly can endanger people's lives, she added. An improperly written manual for a medical device, for example, can result in serious injury or even death.
Having a professional editor review a document with an objective eye is the best way to "debug" print and electronic documents, she continued. Those who create the document are often too close to the material to find errors, and automated tools for checking grammar and spelling provide a false sense of security.
"An error in your company brochure or manual will call into question how well your product works," according to Fritz. "Potential customers may ask themselves how you can produce complicated machinery or sophisticated software when you can't produce a brochure that doesn't have any typos."
Edit Expresssm is ideal for busy professionals responsible for the creation and quality of manuals, brochures, annual reports, Web sites, books, magazines, articles, white papers, advertisements, newsletters, presentations, and other written materials. nSight provides the client with a single point of contact. Edit Expresssm turns around a project quickly using a team of in-house editors and a network of editorial professionals with knowledge in a wide range of subjects, including technical, financial, and medical topics.
nSight, which was founded in 1982 as Editorial Services of New England, edits close to 50,000 pages of information annually for companies such as Microsoft, Fidelity Investments, Compaq, Harvard University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Edit Expresssm was organized as a separate, dedicated entity within nSight, so companies and organizations could better take advantage of the growing need for editing services.
Edit Expresssm provides several levels of service, ranging from proofreading to rewriting. Edits can be made to hard copies or directly in office, desktop publishing, or Web publishing programs from Microsoft®, Adobe®, Quark®, Allaire®, Macromedia®, and others.
The cost of Edit Expresssm depends on the type of edit needed, the subject matter expertise required, and the complexity and length of the document. There is no extra charge for rush orders. Costs start as low as $40 for proofreading a simple brochure.
