nSight, a 25-year-old publishing services firm based in the Boston area, provides course development services to publishers, technical product firms, and faculty.
Specifically, we can develop new courses for instructor-led or online use or adapt existing courses to map the content for a new product version or textbook series to learning objectives for the course. This service includes:
- Revising syllabi to meet course objectives, including weekly course objectives and lesson plans, mapping content to meet those objectives
- Devising lecture notes, PPT slides, discussion questions and examples from the textbook material and other resources
- Writing assignments, quizzes, and exams; providing answer keys and solutions
- Writing study guides to help the student work on specific assignments and goals
- Providing instructor tips for teaching the class
In addition, these courses can be adapted and revised for online delivery, including:
- A home page that includes the course description, syllabus, course objectives, course policies and procedures; credit hours and how the course maps to certification or degree requirements
- A weekly home page with instructions for that week
- Interactive exercises, quizzes, exams; self-evaluation and instructor-evaluation processes
- On-ground content adapted for an online course, including lecture notes, syllabus, help page, study guide, references
This work is done by a combination of subject-matter experts in computer science and other technical fields and our team of expert course designers, web designers and programmers. We are able to design an original website for these purposes or use existing proprietary tools such as WebCT and Blackboard.
