Advanced Copyediting for Technical Documentation

Description
In this workshop you’ll learn how to make substantive changes on technical manuals. Through exercises, real-life scenarios, and discussions, you will master the skills of assessing a manuscript, organizing content, estimating edit time, adding and deleting text without changing its meaning, avoiding jargon, eliminating redundant language, and managing key relationships. You will also learn "tricks of the trade" that will increase your efficiency and productivity. A quick review of copyediting basics will be included.
Prerequisites:
The workshop assumes that participants have at least two years of technical writing/editing experience and are generally familiar with common editorial rules and in-house style guides, general copyediting techniques and proofreading symbols, types and levels of editing, editing and rewriting, and the writer/editor review process.
