Copyediting International Documents
(One-day workshop)

Date(s): Aug 14 | Oct 10 | Dec 3

Instructor(s): Elinor Celuzza

Description
In this course, participants will learn to create documents that address the needs of an international audience. The workshop covers the wide range of issues related to writing and editing documents intended for a global audience, including grammatical construction, writing style, internationalized English, cultural sensitivity, and consideration of possible misunderstandings for non-native English speakers.

Through lectures, exercises, and discussion, students will become skilled at recognizing and fixing language that can be troublesome for international readers, adding and deleting text without changing the writer's meaning, avoiding jargon, and eliminating redundant language. A quick review of copyediting basics is included.

Intended Audience
This course is designed for copyeditors, technical writers, and other publications professionals who prepare documents to be read by international markets.
